Help Build the New Healing Centre

10404062_843228952418018_5145126953024268853_n.jpgFor five years now the Unist’ot’en Camp has been a bastion against the many fossil fuel pipelines proposed to cross the northern part of British Columbia. Each year we have grown in strength and reach. Last year, with the generous financial support of hundreds of people just like you, a secure Bunk House was constructed at the Camp. Sleeping as many as 20 people at a time, the bunk house has enabled activists to maintain a substantial presence at the Camp through all seasons.

Many people first get involved with the Unist’ot’en Camp because our stance is clear and no nonsense – there will be no pipelines built on Unist’ot’en land. But they soon realize that the Camp is much more than just a blockade. It is a place of learning, of healing, of connecting with nature, of breaking with the legacy of colonization. Now this work will be expanded and consolidated through the establishment of a Healing Centre.

The first phase of construction, commencing this spring, will be the kitchen and dining hall which will serve, not only the Healing Centre, but also everyone who comes to the Unist’ot’en Camp.

Can you dig deep?

The Bunk House, a fully insulated, 1100 square foot building complete with a water system drawing on the pure waters of the Morice River, was constructed for approximately $30,000. This was possible because of the hard work of dozens of volunteers and some generous donations of materials.

The estimated cost of the first phase of the Healing Centre is $40,000. Of similar size to the Bunk House there will be the added cost of equipping the kitchen.

This is the frontline – this is where First Nations and allies are standing together right now – and you can be there with them. As long as the Unist’ot’en Camp stands, no pipelines can be built.
