We are organizing an alternative celebration and group exhibition that speaks against the continued colonization of North America; particularly Canada’s history and the current issues surrounding both First Nations and environmental politics.
This group celebration aims to provide both First Nations’ and settlers’ perspectives on themes associated with First Nations rights and autonomy, decolonization, and environmental issues.
Art and social action can act as a catalyst for the deconstruction of negative ideologies. Using the Muir Gallery and Riverside Park we hope to provide a platform for both discussion and understanding of our current Canadian culture and environmental politics. In addition, proceeds from this show to the Hupacasath First Nation FIPA legal challenge fund. Exhibition runs from July 1st-25th.
