Aboriginal Achievement Across the Arts

Come to experience the power of Indigenous people's words as MC Kaylyn Bull introduces graduate students Tenille Campbell, Mika Lafond, and Andrea Ledding, published authors all, who will read from their work. Drama student and author Darwin Gardypie will perform his monologue, Idle No More, about Indigenous and non-Indigenous passion for and indifference to the environment, and Shawn Hamm and Chelsea Horan, undergraduate students in Professor Nancy Van Styvendale's course Indigenous Storytelling on the Prairies, will orally and visually spotlight literature by Indigenous authors. Featured professional actress and university drama professor Carol Greyeyes and Dancing Sky Theatre Artistic Director Angus Ferguson will close out the event with a sneak preview of the play Operation Big Rock, the story of efforts to save the large Buffalo Child stone sacred to many Indigenous people that was blown up during the building of the Gardiner Dam.
