Keepers of the Water

It's time to Stand in Solidarity with Standing Rock in our homeland,Treaty 4. It's time to support our northern relatives who are experiencing the effects of the Husky Oil Spill. Not only that but our own waters, Qu'Appelle Valley Lakes, are in peril, our water is polluted, and we cannot stand by and let this continue. This affects us all. Water is life.

Sherrie Bellegarde writes, "My nimosom George tells me stories of the days when he was young and how he could see all the way to the bottom of Katepwa for how clear the lake was. The Qu'Appelle lakes are our traditional nehiyaw fishing stations, yet every spring and summer the water is green and thick with algae and swimming advisories are the new norm."

Stand with us as we pray together and walk in protection against the pollution and contaminant dumping into our river and lake systems. Because #WaterisLife #MniWiconi #NipiyPimatisowin #NibiBimaadiziwin

Sunrise pipe ceremony @7:00. All pipe carriers and everyone else is encouraged to attend and unite in prayer.
We will follow this with a walk through the town of Fort Qu'Appelle to Treaty 4 Grounds. Please make and bring signs.
