FACEBOOK EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/167643787198145/
Systemic racism affects every culture and we welcome anyone who wants to lend a voice to the fight against racially motivated violence worldwide.
The purpose of this event is to show solidarity with and respect for the #JusticeForColten movement in Canada - to illustrate that the unfolding of these events is affecting people beyond the borders of Canada.
I'd like the Canadian government to see that the problematic treatment of victims of violence from indigenous communities in the justice system and media is visible to the rest of the world and is at odds with the #Canada150 they want people to see.
In the aftermath of the trial of Colten Boushie's killer Canadian PM Justin Trudeau publicly stated Canada needs to "do better". This is our part. We are making a platform to use our voices to amplify those in Canada.
We plan to honour Colten Boushie's memory and discuss other recent victims of racially motivated violence from Canada's Indigenous communities to show they are not forgotten, but in fact their lives have touched others who are oceans away.
