Idle No More Potluck Workshop in Ottawa

SPECIAL GUEST!

Brilliant CBC broadcast journalist, and writer, Waubgeshig Rice will be paying a visit to the workshop to share his analysis of how the Idle No More movement has evolved, based on his extensive coverage of Idle No More since its inception.

SHUTTLE SERVICE!

The Old Forge location has several parking spots, and is right on the 85 OCTranspo bus line, but for anyone for whom getting to the venue is a challenge, we are offering a shuttle service to and from the workshop. Please get in touch by email info@spiritbridge.ca to arrange pick up from your home.

-------------

The Idle No More movement belongs to all of us. It isn’t only about Indigenous peoples (although they hold the key to many of the critical environmental issues in this country). It is about ending our apathy, and fighting (peacefully, with information and understanding) to preserve not only our environment, but to preserving the possibility of a good, healthy, and safe life for our children and grandchildren.

Let’s get together to share our passion and information. We all have a perspective to share, stories full of wisdom (even if we don’t realize it) and the need to feel connected to something greater than our individual selves. Also, we all love good food!

The subjects of discussion will be arrived at by the group. Whatever issues surface as being of vital importance to the group will be shared. This could include the environment, First Nation, Métis, Inuit, LGBT, Two-Spirited, the current government/political strategies, Treaties, education, human rights, women’s issues and others.

There will be a few very short video presentations (most during food breaks) but the rest will be organic, facilitated, strength-based discussion. Spirit Bridge’s three guiding principles will be respected – Honouring the Spirit, Strengthening the Community, and Celebrating the Success.

This is a potluck event - there are few better ways to start sharing than with food! If everyone brings three servings of food (one to eat and two to share) there will be plenty for everyone!

Very much hoping that you will join us. The more perspectives, the richer the discussion, the greater the impact.
